Contents of the pack & other information
The injector pen is a pre-filled disposable syringe pen for multiple injections.
The pen allows for administration of doses of: 0.25mg, 0.5mg and 1mg. One pen contains 3 ml of solution.
The pen is designed for use with 4mm 32g needles. Remove the needle after use and always use a new needle for each injection.
The pen should only be used by one person.
Used pens must be disposed safely, should not be reused and cannot be refilled.
Do not use a damaged pen and do not attempt to repair a pen.
Do not wash the pen and clean with a damp cloth.
Instructions
Step 1 - Mix the Powder & Solution
Hold the pen with the needle-end pointing up.
Firmly twist the cartridge holder into the pen until it clicks into the notch.
Gently tilt the pen from side to side. Do not shake the pen as shaking may damage the growth hormone.
Check that the liquid in the cartridge is clear and all the powder has been dissolved. If not, gently tilt the pen from side to side a few more times. Check the liquid again. Make sure it is clear. Repeat as required. If the liquid is not clear and you see powder remaining discard the pen and use a new one.
Step 2 - Attach a Needle
Take a new needle and remove the protective sticker from the outer case.
Using the outer needle case position it exactly on the needle screw holder. Tighten it securely so that the needle fits tightly onto the pen.
Remove the outer needle case, but do not throw it away. You will need it after completing the injection to safely remove the needle from the pen.
Note: Use a new needle with each injection to minimise the risk of injecting the wrong dose of the medicine, infection, and tissue trauma. When installing the needle on the pen a drop of the medicine may appear, which is normal.
Step 3 - Removing Air Bubbles
Remove the outer needle cover and leave the inner needle cover on.
Hold the pen with the needle-end pointing up and gently tap the cartridge to move any trapped air to the top.
Firmly, twist the cartridge holder into the pen until clicks into the notch (Some liquid may appear around the inner needle cover which is normal).
Step 4 - Prime the Pen
Adjust the does counter to the lowest dose.
Hold the pen with the needle pointing up.
Push the start button at the end of the pen until liquid appears.
If liquid does not appear repeat the dose.
If liquid still does not appear, do not use the pen.
Step 5 - Setting the Dose
Before each injection, it is necessary to check what dose of the medicine (mg) using the dosage selector and dose indicator. Do not rely on the clicks of the pen; you should not count them.
Turn the dose selector until it shows the required dose. The selected dose must be exactly opposite the dose indicator.
If the dose was selected incorrectly, rotate the dose selector forward or backward to set the correct dose.
To determine the remaining amount of the medicine, it is necessary to use the dose counter: turning the dose selector until the dose counter stops.
Important: Do not use the pen if there is not enough medicine left to administer the full dose. Use a new syringe pen.
Step 5 - Administration of the Medicine
In one continuous motion, insert the needle under the skin.
Make sure the dosing window is within the line of sight. Press and hold the start button until the value “0” aligns with the dose indicator. When the button is pressed you may hear or feel a click.
Do not touch the dose counter in the dosage window with your fingers - this may interrupt the injection.
Hold the needle under the skin after the dose counter has returned to “0” and slowly count to 6.
Carefully remove the needle from under the skin.
Note: If the needle is removed from the skin early, you may see the medicine leak out of the needle. In this case, an incomplete dose of the medicine will be administered. If blood appears at the injection site, lightly press a cotton swab onto the injection site. Do not massage the injection site. After the injection is completed you may see a drop of solution at the end of the needle. This is normal and does not affect the dose of the medicine that is administered.
Step 6 - Needle Disposal
IMPORTANT: After each injection of the medicine, always remove the needle from the syringe pen. This can prevent needles from getting clogged, becoming dirty, becoming infected, leaking solution, and giving the wrong dose of medication.
After completing the injection, carefully push the outer case onto the needle until it stops.
Unscrew the needle and discard it along with the outer case.
Put on the cap of the pen and store the pen until next use.
Note: When disposing of used needles, follow local regulations, rules and regulations for handling potentially infectious materials.
